Feasibility Studies
Evaluate and refine options for development
Building for Success
Before approving a business case for construction of a new accommodation at Lake Tekapo, YHA New Zealand sought independent advice from Angus & Associates on the recent performance and prospects for tourism growth in the Mackenzie region.
The Mackenzie District is a popular alpine and stargazing visitor destination in New Zealand’s Southern Alps and the feasibility study needed to consider historical and future demand for and supply of backpacker and other accommodation in the area, the location of activities and attractions, and other factors that could influence the development’s success. The future prospects for the hostel depicted two scenarios, along with a discussion of risks.
YHA Lake Tekapo opened its doors in April 2019.
Capital Accommodation
Wellington International Airport called on Angus & Associates to assess the feasibility of developing an on-site hotel, a first for the airport which sits in a spectacular location between hilly city suburbs and coast.
The feasibility study appraised the market size for the development by assessing the nature of the market, pricing expectations, and likely guest volumes. In addition, Angus & Associates evaluated potential stimulatory benefits for the airport, such as use of conferencing and parking facilities, and changes in route preference.
The four-star Rydges Wellington Airport Hotel opened in 2019.
